Profession:

Assistance Dog
Dog and human

Assistance dogs help people with visual, hearing, and motor disabilities, as well as people at risk of attacks of diseases, e.g. epilepsy or diabetes. Their training lasts about 2 years and costs up to 60,000 PLN, so it is especially important that their owners can take full advantage of all the services available in public spaces.

Dogs and their handlers are matched according to their temperament and lifestyle. An assistance dog not only helps its owner to avoid obstacles on the street or climb stairs but above all allows him to leave the house and open up to the world.

The social project for education about assistance dogs was funded by the European Union. It included a wide range of actions:

  • design of educational materials for use by public institutions, both traditional and online materials, including posters, short movie, social media materials, and workshop plans;

  • articles published in the local magazines;

  • educational workshops for children conducted in a hospital, school, and art gallery;

  • participating in the TV program on local television.

The project will be continued in the form of a series of specially designed educational workshops for children at schools and kindergartens.
